Wonderful Dogs Available for Adoption

After this morning's Dog Walk, I couldn't resist but get out my camera and capture some photos of these incredible dogs.  I forgot how much fun it was for me and the dogs.  I usually end up rolling around on the ground and had more than a few dogs let me know that they were lap dogs ~ even though they were a little bit bigger than my lap.

...and before I could write a little something about these wonderful dogs, two of them have found their forever homes!

Rodge is a Doberman/Greyhound Mix and has been ADOPTED!  I fell in love with this dog the minute he sat in my lap.  Congratulations to his new family ~ I'm sure you made an excellent choice by adding this fun-loving dog to your family.

  Izzy is a 5 year old Pit Bull Mix.  It's always sad when a dog returns to the shelter, but sometimes things happen in life in which the dog has no control over.  After living in her previous home for 4 years, her owners ran into some tough times and lost their home.  She was another dog that when I sat down, she wanted to sit in my lap.  If you are looking for a companion to walk through life with (and maybe spend a little cuddle time), she could be the girl for you!   

Maner is a 6 month old Beagle/Pug mix  ...and he has been ADOPTED!  As with all puppies, he will keep his new owners on their toes.  The good news is that he is VERY treat motivated.

Mary Jane is a 4 year old Catahoula Hound with one beautiful blue eye and one beautiful brown eye.  She came to the shelter in need of a few medical issues, but is now all set and ready to find her next adventure in life.  With a bit of separation anxiety, using a crate while left alone will be a good idea.  I found her to be extremely loving ...and yes she did love to sit next to me and receive hugs!

Myrtle is a small Chihuhua/Terrier Mix.  She was really sweet and the perfect size ...if you are looking for a small dog.  She wasn't so sure of the camera, but did let me capture a few great shots!

Jester is a 2 year old incredibly beautiful Pit Bull.  He walks great on leash and is very well mannered, but still has a little puppy in him.  I mentioned that I usually sit on the ground to get at the dogs level.  Most dogs wanted to sit in my lap, but Jester thought that I wanted to play wrestle.  Getting back on my feet and letting him know that this sort of play was a little rough, things went back to him being this incredible dog.  FYI ~ he is a puppy, but he is strong!

I met Abby back in April and was sad to see that she was back at the shelter waiting for her next home.  She is an ACTIVE 1 1/2 year old Pit Bull Mix.  If you want to see how active she was back in April and read about how much fun I had watching her ...click on her name here ABBY.  I loved watching her play with her ball and I believe she could have entertained herself forever ...and I could have continued watching.  She is a true love who is in need of an active home.

Available for Adoption

Its been a while since I have posted to this blog, but couldn't resist mentioning these incredible dogs that are now available for adoption.  I took them out to burn off a little extra energy in the play area out back today.

The first one out was this sweet 6 year old Coon Hound.  This dog stole my heart.  At one point, I just sat next to him and hugged ~ he would have done this forever.  I would have loved to bring him home, but Lola would not have looked at me for days. 

Who can resist these ears!

 Next up was Winnie!  I am a true advocate for the pits and this dog is a great example of this wonderful breed.  Winnie is two years old and only two-faced on the outside.  She loved the ball and would have played this game for hours.

 ...and yes, she knows her commands and was extremely well behaved!

 ...and lastly there was Abby.  I did mention that we would be burning off a little energy.  Well, Abby had more then her share to burn off.  So much that it was hard to get a clear picture until she settled down.

...and then she found the ball.  I don't think I have seen a dog who could entertain itself the way she did.

 At one point, she would bring the ball to the top of a small hill, tap it and run after it as it rolled  ...then do it all over again.

...and after a bit she settled down and just watched her ball.

If you have the time and experience to train Abby, you will be rewarded with a wonderful dog.  FYI ~ she is only a year old and with all of her sweetness, she still needs some training  ...and a ball:)

These ducks are now testing all dogs at the Bangor Humane Society by setting up home on there lawn/pond where the dogs go for their walk.

Day Out for Brady and Boston

After many months of Blog Neglect, I couldn't help but feature these two sweet dogs.  I had more then my share of fun today and I will let the dogs speak for themselves:

Hey my name is Brady (no relation to Tom) and I am a really well behaved six year old beagle.  Rumor has it that I am quite vocal, but while out today I showed no signs of this.  I did whine a bit, but you would to if you wanted to smell all that Petco had to offer and the Mrs just wanted to stand around talking.

Well enough about me and more about my day!  I will say that I loved riding in a car with my head out the window and my ears flapping in the breeze.  I loved Petco and all the smells they had to offer!  I met other dogs and did the sniffing thing and really liked that.  I love the outdoors!  FYI - being in the outdoors and having a sniffer like mine could get me into trouble unless I was in a fenced in yard or on leash.  Oh yeah, I walk really well on leash.

So if you are looking for a really well behaved beagle, do not hesitate to stop by the Bangor Humane Society  to check me out.  I don't think you will be disappointed!




Now is my turn to tell about me and my day.  My name is Boston and I am a very low key kinda guy.  I am a huge lab mix, but am very easy to control ~ meaning I never pull and walk very well on leash.  The only problem you may have with my size is if you own a small sports car ~ but I will say even if you do, I can adjust.  I experienced this today and looked at the Mrs like seriously, you expect me to fit in that?  With a little maneuvering, I was in and loved the ride.  Where to you may ask?  PetSmart, where we were greeted with many smells, other dogs and  loads of folks wanting to know more about me.

You may also want to know more about me.  I am six years old and have a problem with my thyroid.  On my meds I am one handsome guy, but when I am not taking them I have horrible skin and eye issues.  FYI - I can not control whether I take my meds or not, that is up to my owners.  My previous owners did not think it was as much of an issue until things got out of control ~ that's when they brought me here.  At this time, I am looking pretty good with the exception of some extreme dandruff and am still improving.

A few more things that I love are snow, treats and being brushed.  So if you are looking for a great dog with incredible manners, I may be the dog for you.  Don't forget, my skin issues will only get better with proper care!

Correction to the Last Post

Even though huge THANK YOUs are still in order for Blue Seal of Bangor for hosting this Saturday's dog wash event, Mutt Nose Best were the Adoption Angels who have paid the adoption fees for Tony and Lady.  The story is that they fell in love with all three dogs at Saturday's event, but are already the owners of five other dogs.  On top of this, they provided free dog washes that day and had a donation can available for the Bangor Humane Society.  With over 100 dogs washed, you can bet that can was overflowing:)

Not only were they Adoption Angels for Tony and Lady, they were thrilled to hear that Izzy was in the process of being adopted.  Being the generous folks they are, Izzy was sent home with Mutt Nose Best products - what a treat for her and her new owners.

....and now I will let the dogs say a little about themselves and what they thought of the day:

Hey my name is Lady and I came to the shelter as a stray so not much is known about me.  I am a lab/boxer mix with a beautiful brindle coat.  I am about three years old and at some point had a litter of puppies ~ don't worry that part of my life has been fixed and no more puppies for me.

After the event on Saturday, it was obvious that I love other dogs ~ big and small.  I would have loved to run around with a few of them, but this was not a dog park and it was also not the time for running around.

I had a bit of Reiki performed on me and it was determined that I might benefit from some Bach Flower Therapy.  I'm not sure what this is all about, but I'm game if you are:)

When they made an announce me about me on 106.5, I was thrilled.  After this a picture was in order - Sit / Wait / Stay - I felt like a pro!

Within no time, it was time for a ride back to the Bangor Humane Society  ...and yes, I love car rides ~ especially if you have a moonroof!

Hi, I'm Tony!  You probably remember me from a previous post ....and yes I am still hanging out waiting for the perfect home.  I am a one year old (and yes that means I'm still a puppy) bulldog mix.  Today they had me wearing this banner to let everyone know that I was representing the Bangor Humane Society.

Not much is known about me since I came to the shelter as a stray, but it has become quite obvious that I like other dogs!  I just wish that there was more room to run and play rough with the other dogs at this event.  Did I say play rough ~ well, that's something I need work on.  I like to play a little rough and I am quite mouthy (and not in the vocal way).  As a reminder, I am still a puppy and can easily be broken of this.  A bonus is that mandatory training is part of my adoption agreement ~ this will help me learn to be the best dog anyone would ever want!

I want to send out my own personal THANK YOU to Bella Cakes for being sooo kind to me and giving me some sweetness in the food department  ... and also for taking a few minutes to look in my eyes and give me some hope!







Both dogs are now back at the Bangor Humane Society waiting for the perfect home!  ....and drum roll please      ................. Mutt Nose Best has become Adoption Angels for both Lady and Tony!!!!  This means that they are paying the adoption fees for both of these well deserving dogs!  So if you are looking for a dog to call your own, stop on by and check both of these dogs out!

FYI ~ just because a dog is residing at the Bangor Humane Society does NOT mean they are handicapped. It's just that their first owners were not the responsible kind:(

Tony goes to Petco

 Hey look at me ~ it's Tony at Petco!  I was chosen to represent the Bangor Humane Society at Petco's Adoption Day and things went splendidly!  In fact, Bangor Humane Society is welcome back at any time thanks to my great manners.  Well, you've heard enough PR for Petco and BHS ~ now a you need to hear about me.

I am a one year old boxer mix who is a bit mouthy ...and not in the vocal way.  My previous owner must have loved to play rough and allow me to also play this way.  If rough stuff isn't for you, a trainer at Petco gave a few tips on how to break this behavior  ....and I was very receptive.  By the way, mandatory training is part of the adoption agreement for me.  That's a good thing, since it will help me become the greatest dog ever while helping us bond for life.  Another thing about me is, I love other dogs - but not CATS!!!  I have been hanging out at Bangor Pet Resort and love it there ...and guess what, they love me too.

You are probably wondering about my day ~ LOVED IT!!!  Petco was a bit stressful at times.  What is it with folks wanting to put their snappy little dogs right in your face.  I fell for more than a few of the dogs though and wanted to run around and play.  These dogs did also, but we were told such play is for outside:(   Another thing, this place smells ...like a million dog treats rolled into one.  I was extremely well behaved and never begged (well once or twice when the treat bag was left out, I tried to sneak one).  I usually waited for  the sit command and also a few down / stays.  This was when I showed my stuff and I did this for hours.  After a while, I was able to lay back and just chill.  Somebody actually caught me snoring.

After all of this stress, I needed a de-stresser.  I loved riding in the car and sat in the front seat just like a big dog!  So off to the Bangor City Forest we go for a walk.  I had a great time running in the field and was very surprised when we saw a few horses coming our way.  I stood as still as a statue at first, just watching.  Then I wanted to go meet them ....and maybe play.  This is when I pulled a bit, but not out of control. 

Well, here I am back at the Bangor Humane Society!  I did get a little rest on the way ride back here, so I am all ready for somebody to come and call me Tony, Their Forever Dog!  If you are looking for a great young dog, I may be the one for you.  Come check me out!!!
